Permanent Makeup Vs. Semi-permanent Makeup :

The terms permanent makeup and semi-permanent makeup are often used interchangeably. Though both techniques share certain similarities, there are some significant differences. Before diving into the details of both techniques, clarifying the difference between the two will help those who are new to the type of approach to makeup.

Permanent Makeup :
[A] The pigment is injected into the deeper dermal layer of the skin with the help of three-prong needles. This approach is rather invasive, resulting in slight pain and scarring.
[B] The results can last for up to 5 to 10 years. However, the effects are majorly irreversible.
[C] Given the level of acidity present in the skin, the pigment is likely to change colors over time.

Semi-Permanent Makeup :
[1] In this approach, the pigment is deposited into the superficial layer of the skin with the help of a single prong needle.
[2] The results can last for 1 to 3 years. However, a few touch-up sessions may be necessary to maintain the vibrancy and shape of the makeup.
[3] The pigment is injected between the epidermis and dermis layer of the skin, thus the color will fade naturally as the skin exfoliates.
[4] There is a high chance that the color of the pigment will become lighter and fade into primal colors like red or blue.
The Types of Permanent Makeup Techniques :-

The term Permanent Makeup refers to a broader family of techniques that is focused on specific areas of the face and body. The results of these treatments are enough to replace traditional make-up techniques.

[A] Microblading : Mimics the stroke patterns of the eyebrows.
[B] Microshading : Pin-like dots are drawn in place of the eyebrows to give them a powdered look.
[C] Lip Blushing : Enhances the shape, symmetry, fullness and color of the lips.
[D] Eyeliner : Ink is applied along the lash line to replicate the appearance of the eyeliner.
[E] Lash Enhancement : Single or multiple fans are attached to each natural lash to add more volume.

The Types of Semi-Permanent Makeup Techniques :-

Semi-permanent techniques are similar to permanent techniques with the exception that the results fade much sooner and can be reversed if desired by the candidate.

[1] Eyebrow Tattooing : Pigment is deposited under the skin around the brows to make them look dense and natural.
[2] Semi-permanent Eyeliner : The skin around the eyes is tattooed on to fill in gaps in the lash line achieving a well-defined cat shape.
[3] Lip Line Tattooing : A permanent lip tattoo is applied to achieve larger and naturally plump-looking lips.
[4] Scar Camouflage : A neutral ink is implemented to stimulate the skin tone, effectively concealing scar tissue.
